December 6th was truly a night to remember this year. Alex Grey’s Net of Being Tour made a stop in at 1015 Folsom in San Francisco. This tour has been making its way around the country in support of the release of Alex’s new book, Net of Being. You might recognize his name from the amazing psychedelic art he produces, some of which is featured in the poster above.

Our friends at Euphonic Conceptions brought the heat with some great music to curate the night. NiT GriT, GladKill, and Teebs headlined the show. All three of them played in the main room at 1015 Folsom, while Alex Grey and his wife Allyson continued to paint for a couple hours on a large painting that was set up on the opposite side of the room from the DJ booth. You can see Alex delicately putting detail into that painting in the picture above. We arrived right as NiT GriT was getting the crowd hyped up with some filthy bass lines. He is one amped up performer. It was fun watching him get just as into his set as a lot of the crowd.

Next up, GladKill took the stage and began soothing the crowd into submission with his sensual and sexy tunes. Although I have been listening to his music for a while, this was my first opportunity to see him live. It was really a privilege to watch him “work.” His set featured only his original tracks from what I could tell, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I had never heard of Teebs before this, so was unsure of what to expect of him. I should of known that he would play some experimental type stuff, knowing that he is on Brainfeeder Records which is run by Flying Lotus. He grabbed the mic and announced to the crowd as he began his set that he was going to get a little different, and he hoped everyone was ok with that. He really subdued the crowd with his sound.

There is another artist who graced the bill for the evening, who I am excited to say recently did an Exclusive Mix for us here at MusicYouNeed. Smasheltooth was featured upstairs on the Beat Church stage. I was stoked to make it up there to catch her super hyphy set before the end of the night. Check out her MusicYouNeed Exlcusive Mix below!
