In my eyes, these past few years mark the beginning of something unprecedented for the music industry. Artists are ascending in popularity based on sheer musical talent and ability. With the advancement and rising use of social media in all forms, it becomes increasingly easy for artists of caliber to be discovered and signed.
A prime example of this is Santa Barbara native Seven Lions. He released his Polarize EP back in April of this year, which was so well received on all fronts he has since skyrocketed in every respect. That EP was put out under Viper Recordings, but his most recent self titled EP dropped this week on the highly respected OWSLA, headed up by the all too recognizable ‘king of dubstep,’ Skrillex. The Seven Lions EP features four tracks, all laid out differently in terms of genre, yet so masterfully produced I find myself moved. With dubstep, progressive house, glitch hop and electro house this release has an appeal to many different tastes of electronic music. Check it out and enjoy!
