Hello out there, beautiful world! Together, you and I will discover and explore the music of a few artists today. Our agenda is always the same, this and every Tuesday, but for those of you who are new around here, a suggestion if I may: Turn It Up!
What do I know about Thomas Slinger aka Gemini? Not much besides the Leicester, England resident is quite a musician from what I can hear. Maybe my ears are broken? Nope, this definitely sounds like the bomb shit. That being the case, naturally I did some digging so I can drop some knowledge. He has been featured on BBC Radio 1, co-produced the wildly popular “Whiskers” with Feed Me which was released on Mau5trap, as well as done remixes for Emeli Sandé and Lana Del Rey. For all you dubstep fanatics, he has been on a UKF Compilation CD: Bass Culture. “Freedom,” the first track we have for you is the first track to be leaked off of his upcoming Mercury EP. If it really is him singing in his cover of “Crew Love” by Drake ft. the Weeknd, which he says yet I’m a tad skeptical of, I’m even more impressed. Lastly, I submit to you his most recent EP, Fire Inside , which was released in February of this year.

Rod Poznansky and Daniel Terndrup aka Cosmic Kids allude to how they met in their bio: in the “gifted” class in high school because they were apparently too A.D.D. to sit still. It’s a good thing their inability to stay focused on the bullshit that spilled from their teachers mouths translated to their ability to produce cool music. They seem reasonably weird, Lord knows where these guys would be otherwise. Lets thank our lucky stars they’ve found each other and have conceived such beautiful musical offspring. “Freight to My Soul” is a brand new track from what looks to be like their forthcoming EP, Never Going Back, set to release in November on Chit Chat Records. All you disco fans are sure to lap up this remix of Giselle’s “Silk.”

I’ve got a special little treat for the last artist today. MONSTA is comprised of the production duo Pegasus along with vocalist Bryn Christopher, all three of which are from the UK. These guys have caught fire recently and the blaze is spreading far and wide with a quickness. They’re brand of electro dubstep sets out a place for itself with such unbelievably perfect and unforgettable hooks laid down over the top. You might find yourself thinking, “I recognize that artist’s name from somehwere, hmmm.” Yep. These are the guys that Skrillex and Nero remixed. They are now signed to Skrillex’s OWSLA imprint and have their debut EP set to release on Oct. 23 with not only “Holdin On,” “Messiah,” and “Where Did I Go,” but also the aforementioned remix. This EP also has a take on “Messiah,” by Alvin Risk as well as a version of “Where Did I Go,” by Dillon Francis & Kill Paris. That’s a pretty stacked bill for a first release if you ask me.
