DJ Shadow

Shadow Flashback Fridays w/ DJ Shadow, LTJ Bukem, and Erick Morillo DJ Shadow is an American legend. His album Endtroducing, released in 1996 was the first album to be recorded with only samples. Times magazine rates it among its top 100 albums of all time! He has been spinning since the early 1990′s, getting his start as a DJ for the UC Davis radio station.  Although sampling is his specialty, Shadow is well-known for mixing up his styles. He is heavily influenced by San Francisco hyphy beats and vice versa. I saw his set live at Coachella and I can say that he plays just about everything, even dubstep. His set performed in his famous sphere stage was one of the best shows I’ve seen by a turntablist.

In the early 1990′s Bukem gained popularity as a DJ and a producer, releasing some major tracks. In 1995, he did an Essential Mix for BBC 1 radio and began working on his record label Good Looking Records. He stopped producing and ran a club night called Speed with another famous Drum ‘n Bass producer, Fabio. He is basically the guy known for introducing a very different style of Drum ‘n Bass that caught on with matured ravers in the underground scene.
