As I like to say better late than never, and seeing as how this concert was two full weeks ago now it’s a little late. Regardless, I felt I needed to share my experience with you at this concert and maybe give you all a little insight into the legend that is Eric Prydz; especially if you happened to have bought an ID Fest ticket and are planning on going to one of the many stops. This night was put on by Insomniac and I couldn’t be more thankful to Pasquale and his team for putting this together. The Palladium as the venue was a prime choice and the accompanying artists Tara Brooks, Jeremy Olander, and Arty made this a stellar lineup for 7 straight hours of music. All of this on top of the fact that Prydz finally made it back to the U.S. after an approximately 5 year hiatus due to his fear of flying. Also the simple fact that he is an absolutely legendary producer in the world of House, Tech-House, and Progressive House and you can see how one might be a bit excited to see him perform, and of course excited is a complete understatement.
Jeremy Olander
I want to first start by saying we got in quite smoothly thanks to a speedy, well-done security check which is always nice; especially since we had a crew of about ten people. Upon getting in we grabbed a much need beer and made our way to the beats booming out of the main room. If you’ve never been to the Palladium before I highly recommend you go as it’s all one dance floor with a balcony to the side, making for one of the most nicely-laid out venues with a top-notch sound system, which makes for a really good musical experience. Upon entering the main room Jeremy Olander was up on the decks by the time we made it in and he was just at the start of what was a blistering hot Progressive House set. Jeremy Olander, if you didn’t know, is basically Prydz’ protege and the only DJ/Producer to have been officially endorsed by Prydz. If this doesn’t tell you a little about Jeremy Olander then I don’t what to tell you. He is young, being only 24 but has already produced multiple top-notch tracks that have been played out by the likes of Pete Tong, and has had many requests for remixes from the likes of Digitalism and Glenn Morrison. The point is you should take a listen to his tracks because his set was nothing short of amazing. There really could not have been a better opener for Prydz to segue into his magical two hour ride of music that he took us on.

Just take note of the above video. This is how absolutely flawless the transition was from one DJ to the next, Jeremy Olander’s set into Eric Prydz’s (Cirez D, Pryda) set and if you ever doubt that it can be done here is proof right here of what DJ’s can and should be doing as far as mixing, and for opening a night by building up the excitement for the main act. This is how the rest of the night went from this point; Eric mixed this flawlessly for the next two hours making it seem as though he just played on song for the entire two hours he played. He took this venue to another planet; when he played it was like we weren’t on planet Earth anymore, we were on Planet Prydz finding out what Progressive-House, House, and Techno should sound like and it was pretty close to heaven. To top of the flawless mixing his track selection was ace and when he played Sweet Dreams I felt like I could cry. See why below.
In addition his decision to close his set with Empire of The Sun’s track “We Are The People” was nothing short of epic and put the biggest smile on my face.
Needless to say this night was so unbelievably awesome and the vibe of the crowd was like nothing else. I think it’s safe to say pretty much everyone there was on the same page and it was a beautiful thing. I can’t wait to experience something like this again. I’m still trying to grasp the fact that I was actually there and that this actually happened; it felt unreal. I hope that some time in the near future I’m able to see a performance that comes even close to how good this one was. To all of you out there who are seeing Prydz at ID Festival prepare yourselves for a fucking show because that’s exactly what you’re going to get and it will be like nothing else you’ve ever seen. Prepare to have your mind blown by the man, the legend, the DJ Eric Prydz.
*On a side note I didn’t get to check out Tara Brooks because we got there a little late and Arty’s set, after watching Jeremy Olander and Eric Prydz absolutely take that place to another Universe, didn’t even come close and me and my friends were pretty dead so I didn’t watch too much of his set. Overall a great night and I look forward to more great concerts from Insomniac and hopefully the chance to see Eric Prydz play again!
