For this weeks installment were going to break down the lineup for the second night of the Discotheque stage. The first night tends toward the more disco/house side of things, where as the Saturday lineup leans heavily towards the tech-house side of things. With the likes of Claude VonStroke, Justin Martin, and Kill Frenzy you can be sure there will be plenty of booty shaking bass; James Murphy and Zombie Disco Squad will be sure to bring the dancey-disco beats; and with Brodinski, Brenmar, and The Starship Connection rounding out the lineup this stage ends up being so stacked you could easily stay here all night and not go wrong.

Claude VonStroke
If you don’t already know who Claude VonStroke, especially from the coverage him and the Dirtybird Record Label get on this site, then shame on you. Claude VonStroke is the man who started Dirtybird Records and, one might venture to say, one of the originators of the future bass, ghetto bass, booty bass (whatever you want to call it) sound/movement that is hotter than hot right now. He also runs the record label Mothership so you can see he’s a really busy guy releasing sexy tunes for all of you music lovers. If you haven’t heard his music then all I can say is check out all the tunes below to get an idea of what he plays. You will seriously regret missing his performance at Hard Summer and you better believe I’ll be there as close as possible dancing to his booty-shaking, tech-house beats.

Brodinski
Brodinski is an up and coming French DJ/producer whose work doesn’t really fit to nicely into the genres of techno and electro and the reason is he is really making his own unique sound. He has played festivals and clubs across the world and as of last year started Bromance Records with Gesaffelstein creating another musical outlet for the musical genius that these two guys have. He has already done an Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 and has played several Hard events before. This guy is doing big things and if you haven’t previously seen him now is your chance.

Justin Martin
Justin Martin is another name on this lineup that you should already know about because of our coverage here at MYN because he is signed to Dirtybird Records. This man throws down one of the sexiest tech-house sets that I have ever seen and there is no reason why you should be missing him at Hard Summer. His first full length album Ghettos and Gardens dropped in May of this year and it’s one of the better albums I’ve heard in a while; each track stands on its own and at the same time the album is one cohesive masterpiece that you should check out. He’s been quite successful over the past few years but his ethos is “Life is too important to be take seriously” and it shows in his attitude up on stage and how he comes across to the audience; he seems very approachable. Regardless of how he appears he will be throwing down hard with bass lines that will be hitting you in all the right places and for you miss out on this would be a crime!

Zombie Disco Squad
Zombie Disco Squad, formed in 2006 by Nat Self and Lucas Hunter, is now just made up of Nat all by himself but the philosophy is still the same and the background and influences haven’t changed either. He is playing under the Zombie Disco Squad name and making himself heard by the masses just as much as when Z.D.S. was two and not one. The unique spin on house is still there so there’s no reason to expect anything less than an amazing show from Zombie Disco Squad. I’d be hard pressed to describe his sound so just know that it’s House, but the Zombie Disco Squad version of House.

Kill Frenzy
Kill Frenzy is a young producer/DJ from Limburg, Belgium. His tracks are all booty shaking but they range from house to tech-house to minimal. If you haven’t already heard his track “Booty Clap” then you’re missing out because this is just one of those tracks that you’d be hard pressed to not like even if your not into tech-house; this song is just a hard-hitting, massive bassline, dance floor killer that makes everybody want to shake their ass. This track will give you a good idea of what his sound is all about and then from there his other productions are just as good and just as fun as this one. If you like Claude VonStroke and you like Justin Martin then you also have to check this guy out as I’m sure he’ll be right up your alley.

Brenmar
Brenmar actually comes from right here in the good old U.S. of A. having been born and raised in Chicago. Growing up he got his love of RnB from his sisters and this influence becomes apparent once you listen to his remixes and original productions which are heavily beat-driven and have a super sexy vibe to them. You also see this with his choice of tracks that he has chosen to remix which include Aaliyah, Cassie, and Groove Theory. If you want to get down to some hip-hop beats then this is definitely your go to guy at Hard Summer.

The Starship Connection
The Starship Connection’s music has been describe as synthesizer funk/future bass. This quartet hails from the Bay Area and is made up of Teeko, Daren Grant, Bob Menacho, and B. Bravo (a San Francisco DJ) who heads the group. There wasn’t too much about these guys but what I did find was the video below which should give you a good idea of what kind of show you can expect. This will definitely be one funky ride to outer space with all the sexiness of a live band combined with dreamy & spacey electronic sounds.
