As I stated in my previous Progressive Saturdays post I am doing two post this week to make up for not being able to get a post up last weekend, and this post will be a recap of EDC Las Vegas! Unfortunately my camera was lost on Saturday at EDC so a lot of good pictures I had are gone and my phone seemed to take some pretty awful photos, but I do have lots of videos!
Friday:
Friday night started late for me since I had a final from 4-7 pm in SLO and then booked it to Vegas, arriving at the Speedway around 2:30 am. Missing Above & Beyond was a big blow since I knew how great their sets always are. Fortunately I did catch most of Gareth Emery’s set, who killed it as usual, and caught parts of Bassjackers, Fedde le Grand, and Super8 & Tab. Super8 & Tab had a great set and was bouncing around between trance, progressive house/electro, and even some uplifting trance showing a lot of diversity in a very fun set as the sun came up! The first picture is from Gareth Emery’s set at Circuit Grounds and the second is Bassjackers at Kinetic Field.
Saturday:
Saturday was a very strange day to say the least. It started out great, my group and I got there really early and caught sets from Sander van Doorn, Nicky Romero, and Jochen Miller. Sander tore it up in only 30 minutes and Nicky Romero was doing really well too when we left to go see Jochen Miller. Jochem Miller had a killer set throwing down tune after tune and keeping the crowd going the whole time. After sitting outside the mainstage listening to Bassnectar and a little bit of Calvin Harris’ set it was back to the ASOT stage to see Markus Schulz slay some unicorns! It was during that set that everything got turned upside down and Markus announced that everything was getting closed down for an hour due to the high winds. This bummed everyone out, especially a friend who met up with us who only came for Saturday night. Long story short the stages never re-opened but we still had a great time hanging out and meeting new people since a lot of people stayed at the racetrack. Then around 3 am a surprise came, we looked over to where the Wide Awake Bus DJ set was and with a crowd of maybe 1000 people around it and music playing through a tiny sound system was Markus Schulz spinning. This was one of the coolest things I had seen, and will very likely never see again. Armin, Markus, Cosmic Gate, and W&W had all played their sets in the A State of Trance Studio since they had a live broadcast to complete, but after Markus started spinning for those few still left at EDC and was even joined up on the bus by Armin and Cosmic Gate. Two top 10 ranked DJs and a legendary trance group all on top a tiny bus stage, very cool and something I won’t forget. After a while Steve Aoki came and relieved Markus on the decks and finished off the second night of EDC. A strange but great day. Below are the videos I took from Saturday night at EDC.
Sunday:
Sunday was to me the best day, probably due to the fact that it was the only full night of sets for me. I was bummed because I missed BT due to security taking forever but did get to see Tritonal, Armin van Buuren (who decided to switch up the A State of Trance stage so he could make up for not getting to play the night before) and ATB. While going over to the Q-Dance Hardstyle stage, which had one of the coolest looking stages I’ve seen, my friend and I who loves Hardstyle saw the surprise make up set of Noisecontrollers which was a ton of fun, there’s no style like hardstyle. I also caught some of Dirtyphonics live set which was amazing and the end of Avicii’s makeup set trying to meet a friend. After that it was back to the ASOT stage for some Dash Berlin and Ferry Corsten. Dash had some great moments with him and ATB standing on the DJ booth when Apollo Road was playing and Shogun randomly showing up when Man On The Skyfire played. Then Mr. Corsten came on and absolutely destroyed the ASOT Stage! His set was wicked good and he lived up to his name as an EDM Legend. After Ferry was done melting my face some friends and I went over and chilled in the grass at Cosmic Meadows and listened to one of the greats of EDM, House legend Danny Tenaglia. DT dropped some very sexy beats and it was a great end to one of the best weekends of my life. Below are the videos I took on Sunday night.
And that’s how my weekend was, hope you guys enjoyed this!
