Welcome to the Underground: Volume 4

As some of you know, I attended college in San Luis Obispo, CA. Because of my ‘heritage’ I will always have a special place in my heart for those artists trying to make it big in the little place more commonly known as SLO. I’ve featured 5 artists that have lived or still live in the lovely city on the Central Coast, and hope that you check them out below! Enjoy!

DJ MAKJ

The king of mash-ups and a quickly rising star; he’s had his tracks featured in live sets by artists such as Hardwell and LA Riots (who he actually produced a mash-up with recently). His eyes are set for the top, and he shows no signs of stopping.

Fatty Knuckles

One of the originators of the SLO EDM scene, FTK focuses on drum and bass and deep house more than any other genre, and he is good at what he does. He’s recently been working on some collaborations as well as a brand new mix which just dropped. Grab it on his Soundcloud, but check these tracks out first!

John Smith

Hugely popular in the local scene, John Smith has begun to expand his involvement in music beyond just DJing. He’s opened for nearly every major artist to pass through SLO, but that wasn’t enough for him, so he has started a production and event company, HLGN Pro, as well as beginning to produce in the studio. His first track preview can be found below.

One of the most original and fearless artists I’ve seen live is Audiob!t. He’s extraordinarily talented both at spinning and producing, and these two tracks are no exception. He’s never afraid to try a new sound or genre, and always keeps his sets fresh; with high energy bangers throughout.

Finally, we have DevRun. The dirty house, bouncy techno DJ has begun producing as well, with his first official remix below for free download! He is also the co-founder of HLGN Pro, and one hell of a live act. Check him out.
