*Artist of the Week* DJ Riggz!

This week’s artist is a Central California based electro-house producer and DJ by the name of Riggz! He recently reached out to me after hearing about the site and asked me to check out his music. By me writing about him, you already know I thought his material was worth featuring and letting all of you listen to. He focuses on electro-house, but plays around with dubstep and other sounds to keep the crowd alive. What pushed you to start spinning and producing music from just listening to it?

My Family. They’re all in the Music Business; Rappers and Producers.

Where does your inspiration and motivation come from to continue pushing yourself?

My fans, promoters, family, and also my Dymond Lyfe Records. Big ups to them! With out them I wouldn’t be so positive about myself and my career.

Describe your sound for readers.

Fist Pump. Chap Stick. Push Up. That’s how my music does to you LOL.

Who are your greatest influences?

LMFAO; they made me realize that house and electro music is rap-able. That’s why I made the song “Sound of Movement Ft. GQ,” my electro song.

Tell me about your favorite performance you’ve ever given.

All my shows are my favorite performances. But my favorite one is when I did my first house party- had the whole party going crazy when I showed up.

Why is music so important to you?

Music is so important to me because I don’t know what I’ll do with out it. It’s like a drug and I need it. It’s like a test and I gotta study for it.

What are your goals with your music?

To have everybody know my name an listening to my music and videos on a daily basis.

What is it about electronic music that is so special to you?

The bass. You gotta love that bass when it hits your head.

Why would you say you focus on electro house so heavily?

I really don’t know why I’m so focused on electro music. I’ve always been into it. I never really asked myself that before. Maybe because when I play it at the shows people always go crazy and dance.

What’s one thing people should know about you?

Raves are still alive.

What’s next for Riggz?

2012 is DJ Riggz’ Year! MixTapes drop this summer!
