kdrew1 *Artist of the Week* KDrew
I have a new artist for all you this week! His name is KDrew, and he’s a pop star who heard dubstep and was INSTANTLY motivated to pick up the genre and blend it into his repertoire! I personally love when artists are able to blur the genre-defining lines, and this artist is no exception. He has created 4 BANGERS that fuse an up-tempo dubstep style (similar to that of Skrillex) with the pop vocals and flare that KDrew brings to the scene. Enjoy these dubstep tracks below and check out his Soundcloud for more original songs!
KDrew- Firestarter
KDrew- War of the Worlds
KDrew- Our City
KDrew- Body & Soul (Club Mix)

Tell me a little about yourself and how you got into music.
My name is Kevin Drew, KDrew for short. I’m 22 and from Howell, NJ. I’m a singer, songwriter, producer and I live for music. My father was in a few rock bands back in the day and also a dj which he still is lol. So growing up I was surrounded by music all the time whether I liked it or not. It just so happened that I wanted to make it my career.
What were the beginning days of being a music artist like?
The beginning times were great and also tough. Great in the sense of being in this new world with so many things to learn. Tough because it was gonna take time to learn them. But still to this day I learn new things so I still feel like I’m in the beginning days of my career!
What has been your favorite live performance that you’ve given?
My favorite show had to be in Jersey which was cool because my whole family got to come out and see me play and we also had packed the place out. The crowd was really into it so for my family to see that was definitely awesome.
What message are you trying to send with your music?
I just want people to understand that you can do whatever you want in life. There’s always that misconception that people are led by. Which is I’m gonna not follow my dream because either they don’t believe in themselves or they think they are shooting to high. So me doing music and having no label besides the one I started (Indie Music Group) I hope people can get inspired for whatever their dream is and go do it.
Why did you decide to transition/dabble into dubstep?
The first time I heard a dubstep record it physically moved me. I never felt that way listening to a song ever. It was crack to my ears and I needed to make it. Plus its definitely a more hands on way of making music which just makes me a better producer.
What’s the most rewarding part about creating music?
The fact that I could make people happy with something I love doing. I think we all strive to have that in life.
What are your goals with the music you create?
No goals. I just try to have as much fun as possible and hope to make something great with that energy.
What is one thing that people should know about you?
They should know that I work very hard and I’m independently doing it so that I can stay true to myself and fans.
What’s next for KDrew?
Hopefully get a ton of records out there and start to tour across the country. Then overseas!
