Yes sir, it’s that time of the month again… for DOPE electronic music to take over downtown SLO (what were you thinking about?)! HLGN PRO & MO|TAV Present PULSE is here once again tonight! I hope you guys are ready for some pre-Thanksgiving festivities that will include free SD & H schwag being given out, BUMPIN music all night long, and ridiculous drink specials that should make the night especially hard to remember! This month’s Pulse features a trifecta of SLO town artists set to melt your faces: John Smith, DevRun, and the newly christened DJ Nick Cross (who is making just his second live appearance downtown)! You won’t wanna miss this one as these guys have been saving up some of their best tracks for your listening pleasure! For more info on the event, visit the page HERE.
If you haven’t heard any of these artists, be sure to check out some tracks and mixes below! Enjoy, and make sure you get your ass out to MO|TAV tonight!
“Hey everyone, I wanted to post to give you an update on my progress. I’ve been putting more and more mixes together and becoming more involved in the San Luis Obispo scene. Over the last year, I’ve met fantastic people, seen inspirational live DJing, and experienced some of the coolest events. Now that I’m diving into the world of producing and playing more than house parties, I’m taking the time to switch to my real name for my DJing handle: Nick Cross.”

Devrun’s music is his own mix of bouncy Techno and melodic Electro House. Many of his sets feature tracks with prominent vocals that help to create the melody of his set, and get the crowd involved by singing along with the lyrics. He likes to play tracks with softer, bouncing bass lines that cause most people to swing their hips and bob their heads to the beat. Each set is carefully pieced together to ensure a steady buildup to the climax of his show, where he gets into louder, more house oriented tracks. When he reaches the peak of his set, the crowd is absolutely going insane to the huge buildups and heavy drops he starts laying on thick.
Sander Van Doorn, Laidback Luke vs Rihanna- We Found the Love Cap (DevRun Bootleg)
Zedd- Shave It (DevRun FunStep Edit)
DevRun- The Saga Vol. 2
Listening to John’s mixes is an experience unlike most; his sound involves funky, deep bass lines, with high-pitched and tantalizing synth leads that cause even the most dancing-impaired to get up on their feet and shake their hips. The thing I really enjoy about John’s music is his ability to take you from a light electro song and transition into a heavy house track that stifles you with bass. He always knows how to keep the crowd guessing by reading what they like and then giving them something they never expected.
